Scholarships

Many students who are interested in studying international culinary arts or international hospitality management are deterred purely for financial reasons.  The international hospitality industry and the international chef’s profession is in desperate need of highly qualified and motivated people to help drive the future of the industries these professions serve. With thousands of unfilled vacancies due to lack of skill and knowledge being a dividing factor. IACCA are determined to do all it can to provide the skills and knowledge to help develop interested individuals towards a successful career within the international hospitality sector.

 

IACCA scholarship programme is designed to help remove the financial barrier for some to enable them to meet their full potential despite their background. We hope the IACCA scholarship programme will serve as a lasting contribution to the profession and its practitioners.

LU BAN CHINESE CULINARY CHEF SCHOLARSHIP

Lu Ban Chinese Culinary Chef Scholarship is available at IACCA, and is awarded on the basis of academic and/or profession performance and potential.

The scholarship offers 50% tuition wavier worth of £10,000 GBP.

All international students who have applied for and been offered a place for eligible full-time study on the Elite International Culinary Arts programme.

Step 1 First Round Selection Based on the Following Three Common Criteria

  1. High Academic Achievement: This is based on your academic transcript, and by testimony to your scholarly excellence that is provided by a letter of recommendation by a teacher or school.
  2. Financial Need: This is based on the financial information that is furnished in the Finance and Funding Section of your International Registration Form, by information provided by your letter of recommendation, plus any reinforcing narrative you provide in your personal statement.
  3. Recognised Contribution to the hospitality and catering community: This is based on information presented in your International Registration form, by information provided by your letter of recommendation, by your resume, plus any reinforcing narrative you provide in your personal statement.

 

STEP 2 Second Round Selection Based on a Sponsor Determined Fourth Criterion:

In step 2, the fourth selection criterion that is determined by sponsor(s) is applied. These may include (i) enrolment in a particular field of study, (ii) personal attributes and achievements such as leadership, (iii) special community service or volunteerism, (iv) overcoming certain life challenges, (v) residence in a specific geographic area, or (vi) other distinctions.

  1. The Lu Ban Chinese Culinary Chef Scholarship is looking for individuals with a true passion for Chinese culinary arts and would like to establish a career in the international hospitality industry. Express this in your personal statement and letter of recommendation.

 

STEP 3 Decision Making

Based on the information gathered in Steps 1 and 2, the judges, most of whom are current or former educators from further education sector, will determine which candidates should receive the scholarship. 

 

STEP 4 Conditional Offers of Scholarship

Candidate selected in Step 3 will be emailed conditional offers of scholarships (by 1st January). He/She will be asked to provide additional information (e.g. confirmation of registration in the 2021 academic year, etc.) by a given deadline. Should he/she respond in a timely way with the requested information, the conditions will be removed, and he/she will be awarded a scholarship.

 

STEP 5 Confirmation of Lu Ban International Scholarship 2021

With all conditions met, scholarship recipient will be officially advised by email of their award. As a courtesy, applicants who are unsuccessful in the 2021 scholarship program will be notified by email.

All eligible students will be automatically considered.

Once the scholarship has been awarded, the student’s progress will be monitored throughout the programme to ensure that the individual is meeting the agreed attainment targets set by the course team and the tutorial mentor.  

MERIT-BASED LU BAN SCHOLARSHIPS

Three Lu Ban scholarships primarily based on academic merit are available to international students who are studying on the IACCA International Foundation Programme in Chinese Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

Three awards worth of £5,000, £3,000, and £2,000, respectively.

All students registered for the International Foundation Programme in Chinese Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

Awards are given to students who demonstrate excellent progress on the programme.

Whilst student’s entry grades are taken into account, other distinguishing criteria will also be used where available.

All eligible students will be automatically considered.
